Snow Flowers

When I found snow flowers
I'd been driving my stubborn head
Around all night, around the same curves
Between the same lines
Through the owned land of America

My phone, my music, on the seat
I’d heard enough of no longer together, of takin' off out of town
Of new hands playing on a dusty dress
I was coffee-cooked and bored and disappointed
Until the night finally gave up
And I rolled past the press of snow flowers
I became eighteen, driving
Into a world that wanted me
